image

Mee means noodles and goreng means fry. Mee Goreng are yellow noodles fried with kecap manis ( Sweet soy sauce ) and vegetables made into a spicy mouthwatering dish. This is a very popular dish in Indonesia. It can be eaten as a breakfast or as a meal with other side dishes.

In this recipe I used dried noodle and cooking without meat ( vegetarian ). Then you have to boil the noodles first until soft and then drain well.

Ingredients :

4 packet of dry Yellow Noodles
50 gr of bean sprouts ( optional )
1 cubes ( packet ) of fresh hard tofu
Cabbage , Wash and cut like strip.
1 onions chopped
2 tomatoes chopped
3 cloves of garlic chopped
2 tablespoons of chili sauce (can adjust to your taste)
4 tablespoons of sweet soy sauce
oil for cooking
1 tbs pepper
Salt

For a non-vegetarian option
2 eggs
100 gr of prawns
Minced meat

For Garnishing

cucumber cut into triangles
1 red chili chopped or green chili
Sambal ( spicy sauce ) sauce for serving

Serves 2-3 people

Method :

Wash and cut cabbage like strip.

Cut the tofu into small cubes. Heat oil in a large pan and add the onions and garlic and cook till golden brown.

Add the tofu, tomatoes, and cook for another few minutes with sweet soy sauce.

Add the cabbage cook till the leaves are tender.

Add the noodles, salt and remaining of the ingredients. ( For the non-vegetarian option add the prawns or minced meat here , then scramble eggs )

Cover and cook till the noodles are coated with the sauce and soft.

Garnish with cut cucumber and chili.
